Manufacture of micro-springs
Micro tension, compression and torsion springs
Micro-springs are miniaturised mechanical components which retain the classic functions of springs (compression, traction, torsion, etc.) but on a very small scale, often less than a millimetre. Micro-springs are made from wires with a diameter close to that of a human hair, i.e. down to 0.05 mm in diameter, for an external spring diameter of 0.2 mm or more.

Cutting-edge skills
Precision engineering
The manufacture of micro-springs is a high-tech activity, which requires appropriate production and control resources, as well as qualified personnel. Our operators are trained to operate precision machinery under a microscope. The dimensions and tolerances of micro-springs are checked by our metrology and quality control specialists, with the aim of achieving zero-defect production. CGR also offers specific production lines with 100% quality control and thorough cleaning, meeting the most demanding standards on the market.
From medical to space
Co-engineering of micro-springs
Micro-springs are used in medical applications, such as minimally invasive surgical instruments; in electronics and microtechnology, such as miniature connectors and relays; in micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS), such as miniaturised sensors and micro-actuators; in space applications; in precision optics; and in watchmaking and other precision applications.
CGR relies on its STRAIN advanced research laboratory to develop specific technical solutions for the complex problems of dimensioning and manufacturing micro-springs.
